As we enter the mid-point of the season, now is the perfect time to take care of a few summer-focused automotive maintenance items that you may have missed. Here's a quick look at some recommended services that will help ensure safe and comfortable travels in the coming months.

  • Oil and Filter Change: This may seem obvious, but changing your car's oil at regular intervals is critical to get the most out of your ownership experience. Oil works harder in the heat, which may cause it to break down quickly. Newer Volvo's have an oil life monitoring system that lets you know when an oil change is due.

  • New Wiper Blades: We're no strangers to rain here in northern Ohio, and a good set of wiper blades can do a great deal of difference. Old wiper blades eventually become stiff and brittle, losing their effectiveness. A fresh pair ensures maximum water clearance, which is essential during a downpour.

  • Test Your Battery: Car batteries are pretty durable, often lasting 3-5 years or longer. However, hot temperatures can cause faster evaporation of battery fluids and lead to corrosion. If it has been a while since you last checked or changed your battery, now is a great time to have it tested.

  • Check You’re A/C: As you may have noticed, this summer has been quite hot. Temperatures have held well above average for long stretches, with several days in the mid-90s. With temperatures in the upper 80s, your car's air conditioning system should measure 40 degrees at the vent outlet (on maximum and recirculate settings), even while idling, to ensure efficient cooling. As temperatures creep higher, anything below 50 degrees won't help much at all. If your A/C has lost its cool, our expert technicians can have the issue diagnosed and fixed in no time.
